Basic Purpose
The Mechanical and Electrical Technician is responsible for performing a wide range of mechanical and electrical maintenance tasks, including troubleshooting, repairs, and preventive maintenance on various equipment and systems. The role requires a strong understanding of both mechanical and electrical components, along with the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team to ensure the efficient and reliable operation of our manufacturing facility.
Responsibilities

Performs regular maintenance and inspections on mechanical and electrical systems, including but not limited to machinery, motors, conveyors, and control systems, to ensure optimal functionality.

Troubleshoots mechanical and electrical issues, diagnoses problems, and carries out necessary repairs or replacements.

Conducts preventive maintenance on equipment to minimize downtime and prolong the lifespan of machinery and systems.

Installs, maintains, and repairs mechanical components, such as gears, bearings, belts, and hydraulic systems, as well as electrical components, including wiring, circuits, and control panels.

Collaborates with the maintenance team to develop and implement comprehensive maintenance schedules and strategies that optimize production efficiency.

Ensures compliance with all safety regulations and protocols, and participates in safety training programs to maintain a safe work environment.

Keeps detailed records of maintenance activities, including work orders, repairs, parts used, and equipment performance.

Assists in the installation, setup, and commissioning of new equipment and machinery, ensuring that all mechanical and electrical systems are functioning correctly.

Stays updated with the latest developments in mechanical and electrical technology and participate in relevant training programs as needed.

Maintains good housekeeping and follows established safety procedures.

Follows all policies, procedures, and work instructions including Employee Handbook, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Manufacturing Operating Procedures (MOPs), Job Safety Analysis (JSAs), and Safety Manual.

Maintains awareness of individual contribution to and impact of the quality, safety, environmental, and product compliance policies and activities; reports all quality issues, unsafe acts, and unsafe conditions to the proper personnel.
Qualifications

Minimum High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

Technical certification or degree in mechanical or electrical maintenance or a related field is preferred.

Proven experience as a Mechanical and Electrical Technician in a manufacturing environment or a similar setting.

Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, including hydraulics, pneumatics, and conveyors, as well as electrical systems, including control panels, wiring, and circuits.

Proficiency in using a variety of hand and power tools for mechanical and electrical repairs and maintenance.

Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.

Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with a diverse team.

Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in a manufacturing maintenance environment.

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted.

Ability to perform maintenance functions above ground level from l' to 50'.

Must be able to stand and/or walk, bend, stoop, or crouch for at least an 8-hour shift

Must be able to use hands, fingers to handle or feel machinery, equipment or parts and work near moving mechanical parts.
