Maintenance Mechanic 2nd Shift

Department: Maintenance

Location: St. Paul, VA

Basic Purpose

The Maintenance Mechanic 1 requires the ability to install, repair, and maintain facility equipment and machinery in order to maintain required production levels under minimal supervision.

 

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance and preventative maintenance of industrial equipment and machinery; perform daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly preventative maintenance on plant equipment and machinery as required per established PM programs and complete required paperwork in an accurate and timely manner.

  • Troubleshoot equipment problems, identify root causes, and make repairs on production equipment.

  • Support production by ensuring the safe and proper operation, maintenance, and repair of plant equipment.

  • Generate, complete, and close work orders using a computerized maintenance management system.

  • Assist with established preventive maintenance activities and identify new opportunities for improvement.

  • Program Variable Frequency Drives or Servo motor drives.

  • Troubleshoot PLC programs and robotics equipment.

  • Accurately use, read and understand various precision instruments including, but not limited to meters, meggers, and Oscilloscopes.

  • Read and understand Maintenance Work Orders.

  • Must be willing to mentor and train existing and new maintenance employees.

  • Follow all Company safety rules and regulations including LOTO and wearing all required PPE

  • Maintains good housekeeping and follows established safety procedures.

  • Follow all policies, procedures, and work instructions including Employee Handbook, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Manufacturing Operating Procedures (MOPs), Job Safety Analysis (JSAs), and Safety Manual.

  • Maintain awareness of individual contribution to and impact of the quality, safety, environmental, and product compliance policies and activities; report all quality issues, unsafe acts, and unsafe conditions to the proper personnel.

Qualifications

  • Minimum High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

  • Certification or equivalent experience in mechanical field

  • 4 years prior maintenance experience

  • Knowledge of current OSHA, NEC, and ANSI standards

  • Working knowledge of variable frequency drives

  • Must be computer literate, including proficiency with Microsoft Office Products.

  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced working environment with accuracy and integrity.

  • Able to work in a team environment and interface with a diverse workforce.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted

  • Ability to perform maintenance functions above ground level from l' to 50'

  • Must be able to stand and/or walk, bend, stoop, or crouch for at least an 8-hour shift

  • Must be able to use hands, fingers to handle or feel machinery, equipment or parts and work near moving mechanical parts.
