Inventory Control Specialist

Location: St. Paul, VA

Basic Purpose

This position will receive incoming material and properly enter material into the inventory system. The position alsorequires maintaining accurate records of incoming and outgoing products and supplies. Discrepancies with inventoryreports will be identified using digital and manual counting.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Receives materials and ensures proper data is entered into the inventory tracking system correctly.

  • Verifies items received by inspecting the condition of items, compares count/measure of items to purchaseorders and packing lists; and documents and reports discrepancies and/or damages.

  • Coordinates with Purchasing to manage damages and DMR warehouse, completing all necessary paperwork.

  • Communicates with Cost Accounting, Scheduling, and other necessary support employees as needed.

  • Adjusts inventory via negative balance sheets to ensure that inventory balance variances coordinate with cyclecounting results and reconciliation.

  • Assists Accounts Payable with invoice reconciliation when necessary.

  • Maintains organization of all finished products.

  • Relieves other employees in instances of breaks, absenteeism, vacation, or other production requirements.

  • Must be present and part of physical inventory processes, including preparation and material cycle counting.

  • Performs any other duties as assigned or directed by Team Leader/Supervisor.

  • Maintains good housekeeping and follows established safety procedures.

  • Follows all policies, procedures, and work instructions including Employee Handbook, Standard OperatingProcedures (SOPs), Manufacturing Operating Procedures (MOPs), Job Safety Analysis (JSAs), and Safety Manual.

  • Maintains awareness of individual contribution to and impact of the quality, safety, environmental, and product compliance policies and activities; reports all quality issues, unsafe acts, and unsafe conditions to the proper personnel.

 

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED; or equivalent experience.

  • 2+ years warehouse, inventory, or shipping experience required.

  • Must have basic math skills.

  • Ability to read, write, and follow oral and written instructions.

  • Able to work in a team environment and interface with a diverse workforce.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted.

  • Must be able to operate the following equipment: Forklift, Combi-Lift.

  • Must have current and valid Driver’s License.

  • Must be computer literate, including proficiency with Microsoft Office Products.

  • Ability to use online real-time manufacturing control systems, including MAPICS or other current in-housecomputer processes.

  • Ability to use various tools and measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, tape measure, dialindicator, and feeler gauges.

  • Able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and crouch for an 8-hour shift.

  • Must be able to use hands and fingers
